I went and saw this last night and here are my thoughts on it.
As far as the movie goes, it was a pretty good movie, fun to watch.
As far as accuracy with the book, it wasn't really Alice in Wonderland, so I'm guess it's based more on Through The Looking Glass (the sequel to Alice in Wonderland) I know for a fact that Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, The Jabberwocky, and the Bandersnatch are from THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS.
As far as what I was expecting from this film. It was nothing like what I was expecting.
For starters I suppose that I was expecting Tim Burton's usual bizarre twist on things. I sort of forgot that Lewis Carrol's original Alice in Wonderland was such a trip that you really couldn't make it any stranger.
However I was a little disappointed
Johnny Depp's MAD HATTER really wasn't very mad. In fact, compared with Johnny Depp's WILLY WONKA he was pretty much sane, and definetly NOT as frightening.
The queen in Disney's cartoon is definetly better than Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen.
The caterpillar was actually pretty good.
The Cheshire Cat could have been a bit creepier, but he still made me sick to my stomach, so good job there.
The characters who I don't remember from reading Alice In Wonderland, were pretty good, but I haven't read Through The Looking Glass so I'm sure if any of them are in there or not...?
The jabberwocky was definetly not the scariest thing I've ever seen. IF it can TALK it's just not scary...sorry :(

Books by Ellen Hopkins
So I have read Crank and Glass, and now I'm working on Impulse, to be followed by Burned.
These books are bizarre. The stories they tell are sad, depressing, scary, horrible. Full of the darker side of humanity. Depression, addiction, abuse, all of the things that no one wants to talk about.
Maybe that is why it is so hard to put them down. You can't stop reading, because you realize these are the things that people hide, some people don't even realize that there are people that think like this. Most people don't know anyone who HASN'T. It's morbidly fascinating.
It's interesting. It's terrifying. It really makes you think: Especially if you've ever had thoughts like these of your own, you know that it could be your life. Very very interesting.

Mortal Instruments Trilogy: City of Bones
Wow.
Here's how I ended up reading this book. When I go to the book store, I know what book I am getting before I get there (if I didn't I would never end up with what I needed). However I browse and look for interesting titles to read when I have money to blow. Last time I went to Borders I was looking for INKSPELL, but nearby was the Mortal Instruments Trilogy. I read one cover and was like "That could be cool, but IDK, it might just be weird" I was unsure because I had never heard of it before. Then, a few days ago, I got paid like 25 bucks for a book, so I went to walmart (cheaper there) to get the 4th Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants book, because I have been wanting to read that. But it was out of stock. So I was like, I really want a good book to read (even though I am in the middle of Inkspell, and Ranger's Apprentice 2, I can't get in to them right now so I was bored) so I picked up the first Mortal Instruments book City of Bones. I decided, hey its 8 bucks, I'll get it, and if I don't like it, I still have money for something else, and it's not that bad.
So I bought it.
And I started reading it when I got home.
That was Monday night I think.
I finished it today.
All I can say is WOW.
It is AWESOME.
It has more twists and turns than the TITAN, and keeps you guessing all the way through.
Just when you think you know what is happening, EVERYTHING changes.
The character are written just right, each with a strong personailty of their own, but great as a team too. It is a little dark at points, but there were also times I was laughing so hard I was snorting at the awesome humor (mostly in the form of Sarcasm, you have been warned). These characters could TOTALLY be my friends.
The story is complex and interesting.
I couldn't put it down. I stayed up till 1 a.m. reading because I knew I wouldn't have much time during the day (VBS and babysitting) and I wanted to know what happened so bad it almost hurt to close the book with unanswered questions.
Today I went to WalMart and bought Mortal Instruments Trilogy: City of Ashes
and I had to FORCE myself to get ready for church and do some necessary things (like eat dinner) before I opened it.
But now, it is calling my name, until I emerge
Aloha!

Inkheart
So, I actually finished Inkheart before I finished Phantom Island, but Phantom Island was much more important to me.
Inkheart was very interesting.
It took me several days to read it.
It was long, and rather slow at times.
However, I enjoyed the story.
It really was a good book.
I must admit I have often wished I could jump into a book and WATCH the story happen.
But I have never thought "What would happen if the sotry jumped OUT?"
Now that I've considered it, it's thoroughly interesting, if not somewhat frightening.
I must also say that the similarities between myself and the main character were funny to me
Both of us named (or called..) Meggi
Both of us love to read
Both of us can't stand to see books mistreated
Both of us completely devoted to our dads
Both of us related to crazy old ladies..
the list goes on.
It was like reading about myself, the way I wish life could be (millions of books, getting to meet the characters) Of course, it made me think twice about wanting that...
I can't wait to read Inkspell and Inkdeath. I'm hoping to make a trip to the bookstore tomorrow.

Phantom Island: Wind
All right. I am really excited that I can finally post this.I read the book a few weeks prior to the official release, and now I have read it a second time.So here is what I think.
DISCLAIMER: This is my real opinion; my friendship with the author carries no weight on my opinion. So if you are gonna say that Shut Up Now. Thank you.
Phantom Island is one of the best stories I have read in a while. I honestly could not put it down (especially the first time I read it, after you know what happens it's not such a desperation to know the story, but still a thoroughly satisfying read)There is a perfect blend of reality (things that COULD happen) and fantasy (things I WISH would happen).Fantasy is never good if it is completely unrealistic, I am not fond of everything is perfect all the way through the story, and this story is fiction, but not a fairy tale. The characters are completely believable (if not always likeable). And the thoughts in the head of the main character make total sense, as a 17 year old girl, I can say, "I know how she feels"Perhaps that is a positive effect of Krissi's constant interaction with teenager's, she really does know how we (or at least I, though I'm not convinced I'm the average 17 years old) think, even if it's been a few years since she was 17.Every page keeps you guessing at what's going to happen next, and the Island holds you captive. The story is flawless, and well-written.I just put the book down (from my second read), and am already tapping my foot waiting for the sequelPHANTOM ISLAND: WATER
note* 'I corrected this since it was linked on krissidallas.com. I THINK I hav found all the major, un-intentionl spelling/grammar errors. Krissi-no need to thank me. I know I'm cool 8D
